Biography:

Hyun-Joong Chung is an Assistant Professor of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta since 2013. He received B.S. from KAIST and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. His thesis was on the phase behavior of polymer blends and nanocomposite films. Following graduation, he worked 3 years as a senior engineer at Samsung Display in Korea, where he contributed in developing prototype large-area OLED TVs. Then, he developed a wearable epidermal and epicardial biosensor arrays during his postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His current research interests are on tough hydrogels and elastomers and their applications in energy storage devices and wearable bioelectronics. He is the recipient of Hanwha Non-Tenured Faculty Award in 2015.
